Salsa Dancing: Tips for the Complete Beginner

So you want to learn how to dance salsa. Well, congratulations, you've just chosen a very fun and, might I say, addictive hobby. Heck, you could even turn the hobby into a profession. Whatever your reasons for learning how to dance salsa, which I hope will remain a joy for you for years
to come, there a few tips that you should keep in mind when you're just starting out. Although this article won't teach you how to dance in the first place (that you should get from online videos or from a live dance instructor - I recommend a live dance instructor starting out), it does aim to guide you along the way for your first beginning steps - whether you are a male or female dancer. Let's dive in, shall we?

Beginning Principle: Salsa Is Just Like Walking

Tip #1: Don't Step With The Same Foot Twice

Tip #2: Take Normal Strides

Tip #3: Don't Forget To Dance With Your Hands

Conclusion

There are many guiding principles that a dancer should at least be aware of when they are just starting out learning to dance salsa. In this article, I've only discussed just one of those principles in making the case that salsa is just like walking. Most assuredly, other guiding principles will be discussed in upcoming articles. But for now, just remember the tips in this article: don't step with the same foot twice, take normal strides, and don't forget to dance with your hands. Then you'll come to realize for yourself that salsa dancing IS just like walking.
